OpenGeoRock

The OpenGeoRock suite

We are developing OpenGeoRock one program at a time, and we started with the analysis practitioners use most: slope stability in two dimensions. All the programs will share the same Python core for geometry, materials and loads, and the same licence.

Category 01

Slope stability

Limit-equilibrium analysis of natural slopes, cuts, embankments, dams and open pits.

Category 02

Finite elements

Stresses, deformations and coupled flow. The finite-element kernel is already part of OGR Slip2D, where it solves the groundwater flow.

PlannedOGR-03

OGR FEM2D

Elastoplastic 2D finite elements for stresses, deformations and strength reduction in excavations, tunnels and embankments.

PlannedOGR-05

OGR FEM3D

A 3D finite-element solver for rock and soil mechanics, with coupled groundwater flow on arbitrary geometries.

Category 03

Data

A common source of input data for all the programs in the suite.

PlannedOGR-02

OGR Data

A reviewed, searchable database of soil and rock-mass properties, correlations and empirical charts. On the OGR Slip2D roadmap it comes next, after the installers and more validation cases.

Licence

What the licence allows

All the programs in the suite are released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later. You can run them without restriction, including for professional work; anyone who offers a modified version as a network service must publish its source code.
